I'm a sucker for a good story.

When a GREAT story comes along I am giddy. Gordon Vales is that story. With simple wisdom and as Utah Phillips says in his song about Gordon, simple talk.

There he was last year with Sir Richard Branson and Paul Allen enjoying the joys of simple flight at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A couple of months ago, Gordon and I were in Seattle attending SeaFair also celebrating one of Gordon's interests in all things that fly including Superheros.

I have been shooting video and audio of Gordon for some time and hope to share this effort to capture a true spirit in action at some point in the future. If you have a story about Gordon please share it. If you know or knew Gordon please let me know.

Birds, Planes and Superman

Silhouette artist Gordon Vales loves all things that fly. No wonder that we spent part of a day over at Felts Field in Spokane, Washington to revisit some of Gordon's favorite spots. Last year I took Gordon to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the big air show. This summer we are going to SeaFair in Seattle and in February down to San Diego for a tour of San Diego's Aircraft Carrier Museum.

Introducing Gordon Vales

Gordon Vales needs little introduction in Spokane, Washington. You can find him at Manito Park tearing silhouettes with his thumbnails. He is known as The Silhouette Man.

He is now seventy years old and has been doing silhouettes since he was six. More on Gordon's history later at bcnu.tv as we will be showing short clips of his documentary in process.

Gordon loves superheros, the military, battleships, birds and western stuff. He can name just about any Western Star's horse by name.
